Although Kiev II cameras were produced since 1947, all these items from 1947, 1948 and 1949 are very scarce, while issued in very small quantities. Kiev II (1950) seems to be the first productional camera indeed. The very early cameras from 1950 still has many similarities with theirs 1947-1949 forerunners: the focus wheel still has groove in the middle, the lens mount still has engraved numbers with commas, not the points yet. The most attractive feature - early Kiev II from 1950 still comming with ZK Zorki 2/50mm lenses!
1950 was the first year to produce very uncommon export cameras! The double name "Kiev" was engraved and looks different from stamped ones (see camera #500686). |
